PPUM Performs Youngest Liver Transplant in Malaysia

6 Jan 2026, Petaling Jaya – Universiti Malaya Medical Centre’s (UMMC) recent success in performing a life-saving liver transplant on a four-month-old baby — the youngest in Malaysia’s history — is being hailed as a major medical milestone, demonstrating world-class clinical expertise, precise teamwork and the translation of high-quality research into real-world patient care; in light of this achievement, Universiti Malaya has announced plans to expand the number of operating theatres and strengthen infrastructure, critical care facilities and support systems at UMMC to better equip specialist teams to serve patients and save lives.
