The Wilms Tumour Symposium – A Two-Part Series, themed “Revisiting the Basics & Embracing the New”, will take place on the 19th and 26th of May 2025 from 5:50 PM to 8:30 PM (GMT+8). Organized around the latest SIOP-RTSG Umbrella Protocol, the symposium brings together paediatric surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists from Malaysia and international centres to discuss comprehensive, updated approaches to managing Wilms tumour.
On Day 1 (19 May), sessions will cover the challenges of treating renal tumours in low- and middle-income countries, an introduction to Wilms tumour epidemiology, and the role of CT and MRI imaging in diagnosis. Discussions will also explore biopsy strategies and fundamentals of chemotherapy in Wilms tumour management.
Day 2 (26 May) will focus on the surgical approach to nephrectomy and lymph node dissection, special surgical considerations in complex cases such as bilateral tumours and IVC thrombus, pathological features of Wilms tumour, and post-operative decision-making strategies. The symposium aims to update practitioners on both foundational knowledge and emerging practices in paediatric renal oncology.
