Transanal Pullthrough Workshop 2025, Kota Bharu

Kota Bharu, 6 May 2025  – The Transanal Pull-Through Workshop, hosted by the Paediatric Surgery Unit of Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II on 4–5 May 2025, successfully concluded with enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from attendees. The workshop focused on the transanal endorectal pull-through technique, a minimally invasive procedure recognized for its reduced surgical trauma, faster recovery, and improved outcomes compared to open surgery.

Over the course of two days, participants received both theoretical instruction and practical training, including hands-on sessions using goat anus models designed to closely simulate real-life transanal dissection. These models provided an excellent platform for skill development in a controlled environment.

The workshop was enriched by the presence of Mr. Tan C.W. and Mr. Chin, two senior surgeons who generously shared their insights and techniques in both open and laparoscopic pull-through procedures.

A highlight of the event was the live surgery demonstration on Day 2, which allowed participants to observe the procedure being performed on a real patient, reinforcing the concepts covered during the hands-on training.

Overall, the workshop provided a valuable opportunity for skill enhancement and knowledge sharing, furthering the department’s commitment to excellence in paediatric surgical training.
